Are you a senior-level HR professional in search of a unique, one-of-a-kind professional development opportunity? Then, join us at this year's virtual 2021 CA State HR Advocacy & Legislative Conference and help shape the future of HR in our golden state!

Each year, we often find ourselves with the dilemma of implementing another set of new laws in the workplace.  Do you ever feel that these new laws lack a full understanding of how they impact employers and their employees?  How many times have we held our breath, asking, "how are we supposed to implement this new law, or what did they think when they composed the bill?"

As HR professionals, we can voice our concerns and share our expertise with the lawmakers who develop workplace policies that directly impact us. You ask, "how do I get involved with HR advocacy?"  It's simple.  Join us virtually, April 14-16th, 2021, and meet with lawmakers to share the impact of a bill or issue, the reasons why they should support or oppose it, and share a personal story or real-life example to give relevance and credibility to your position.  As experts in the HR arena, we maintain a duty to share our input, and our state representatives are committed to hearing their constituents.  There's no better time than now to do everything we can to help the HR profession move forward.

The CA State HR Advocacy & Legislative Conference is a unique virtual HR education and advocacy conference opportunity to raise our voice, learn to navigate California's complex legal landscape, and connect with our colleagues.

Why HR Should Strategize & Make Goals

    May 11th, 2021

Join us as Michelle Engel-Silva, ED.D, provides an insightful presentation on the importance of goal setting and strategizing in HR.

In this training, attendees will learn the importance of HR professionals being involved in the organization's strategic planning process.

    In this training recipients will:

    1) Learn how the pandemic shifted HR's strategies for the future.

    2) Focus on the importance of employee engagement and connection in the strategic plan process.

    3) Focus on human capital and its relationship to strategic goals (Putting the people component into priorities).

    4) Learn how to be a strategic partner and effectively communicate HR strategies.

Michelle Engel-Silva, ED.D, has been working at Proteus Inc. for 25 years. In her career at Proteus, she has held different positions. She started as a Vocational Instructor, moved into a Program Manager position, and then became an Organizational Development Specialist. Next she took on the role of HR Director for 12 years and currently she is the Director of Operations for the corporation. One of her passions is training people. She has done several Proteus Leadership Academy training sessions, has trained for the Society of Human Resource Management, been an adjunct professor in the Business Department at Fresno State, and was a trainer at the WAFA conference last year. In the last 15 years, she has been a key corporate leader who has been working hand-in-hand with the Proteus Board of Directors. She has facilitated board strategic planning sessions and trained the Proteus Board on CSBG funding and organizational standards. She has also been instrumental in training the Proteus Board members on their roles and responsibilities in their board positions. Through humor and a participatory training strategy, Ms. Silva will engage the audience and facilitate a great learning experience.
