Success in Supervising

Rise through the EMS ranks: Promotion training guide

Topic: It has been said that “Adults don’t need to be taught so much as they need to be reminded”. The process of becoming more aware of how you interact with others and why that style is or is not effective is one of the key objectives of the COS Training Resource Center’s Supervisory Academy.

Bio: Heather Bixler is an active professional in our community and has over twenty-five years of experience in the areas of facilitation, training, coaching and instruction in leadership and communication. She is a trainer for the Training Resource Center for the College of the Sequoias and currently instructs communication courses at College of the Sequoias. Heather holds a Master of Arts degree in Communication and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Speech Communication and Interior Design from California State University, Fresno. Through the Tulare Chamber of Commerce, she facilitated the Leadership Tulare program for five years. She has held positions as the past executive director for the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks Foundation and the Director of Communications for the Visalia Chamber of Commerce. She has also taught and coached at California State University, Fresno and for Brandman University. Heather’s involvement has afforded her the opportunity to work with such groups as the Kaweah Delta Hospital Foundation, Rotary Club of Visalia, Visalia Citizen’s Advisory and Co-Chair of the 150th Tulare County/City. This SHRM session will provide you with a couple of the essential tools supervisors need to be successful. Being a supervisor is one of the greatest challenges you will ever make in your professional life. Learn how becoming a supervisor may change some of your relationships to your previous coworkers. Reinforcing your supervisor skills is about developing and conditioning your strengths in order to better your organization. Learn about some of the vital skills you need in communicating with your staff and navigating conflict when it arises.

Bring a leader with you! Please register each of them as your guest or invite them to register.
