The Illusion of Success: Strategies for Stress Management

Robert Nevarez has been Chief of Police of the Delano Police Department since July, 2018. Prior to that, Nevarez was with the Fresno Police Department for 32 years; 15 of those years as a Deputy Chief of Police. He is the youngest person ever promoted to that post; at 38 years of age. In POST Command College, his graduate paper was entitled “ The Need for Continual Mandatory Stress Management Training in Police Work“. He has presented across the country on Wellness and Resiliency, particularly focusing on public servants and the trauma they witness with on a regular basis. In 2006, he was recognized by the California State Legislature for his work related to Police Stress Management. Since 2000, Nevarez has been a member of Toastmasters International, previously serving as Fresno City Toastmasters Club President. In 2014, Nevarez was selected as Area Governor, which encompassed Fresno Area Toastmasters clubs.
