January Legal Updates

January 8th, 2019

Join the SHRM T/K Legislative Director, Faith Driscoll, as she reviews the new laws, regulations and judicial opinions affecting California employers this year. This training session will include:

• increasing minimum wages,
lactation accommodation changes,
expansion of sexual harassment protections,
further restrictions on criminal background checks,
changes to independent contractor status, and
paying for every minute worked by employees.

Attendees will be provided with practical tips for applying the changes in the workplace and communicating them through employee handbook revisions. Bring your notepad and questions to get the most out of this session!

Bio: Ms. Driscoll practices in the areas of labor and employment compliance and litigation at Barsamian & Moody in Fresno. She assists union and non-union employers in resolving disputes involving claims of unpaid wages, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination. She drafts employment agreements and contracts, handbooks and provides training for business owners, supervisors and human resource practitioners. As an advocate, she develops legal strategies for discovery, investigations, hearings and trials. She has represented employers in cases in court, as well as before the ALRB, OSHA, the EEOC, DFEH and Labor Commissioner in all stages of litigation. She also conducts workplace investigations, wage and hour audits, and employee trainings. When she isn’t fighting the good fight, Ms. Driscoll volunteers her time to improve our community by serving on the board of directors for a professional human resources group and for a guild of Valley Children’s Hospital.

2019 membership rates will apply.  Please remember to register even if you are a pre-paid member.  Also, if you do not attend the event and do not cancel at least 24 hours prior to the start of registration, you will be charged the full amount.
