Greetings!

Welcome to the SHRM of Tulare/Kings County website. SHRM-Tulare/Kings is a professional organization with over 75 members and an active board of directors. We are one of over 575 chapters affiliated with the National Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), a worldwide organization located in 140 countries with over 250,000 members. We have consistently been awarded the Superior Merit Award for Achievement, as well as a 2006 Pinnacle Award.

It is my pleasure to be selected as the president of such a successful chapter.  As a board, we have great things planned for the local chapter to reach all levels of the Human Resource profession.    Below you will get a glimpse of some exciting announcements for 2012, including membership goals and incentives, implementation of feedback from the 2011 chapter survey, communication and networking opportunities through social media outlets, new luncheon location, and exciting new speakers and topics!

Membership and Lower Costs! This year, there will be an increased focus on communicating the benefits of joining our local chapter. The board is reviewing local membership specials and incentives for 2012 that will allow more flexibility for those who wish to invest in national membership. In addition, we are launching a Brand New Orientation Day open to all members. This is an opportunity to share the vision of SHRM and encourage members to get involved and participate in our local chapter by learning about all the wonderful benefits we have to offer!

Social Media Bound!  Recognizing the importance of keeping our members engaged and informed, the board has decided to add a brand new position to the SHRM of Tulare/Kings Board of Directors.  Jeana Brooks, the 2011 Diversity Director and editor of our Quarterly SHRM of Tulare/Kings Newsletter, has been selected as the Communication Director for the 2012 board.  This year, we plan to launch a communication initiative that will include e-mail marketing, use of social media outlets such as Facebook and Linkedin, and a more interactive website.  This new communication piece will allow us, as a board, to connect with current members, and perspective members, and communicate current relevant information more regularly.

New Location for Monthly Luncheons! This year, we have selected Teresa Inglehart as our new President-Elect. Teresa was so pivotal in the success of our 2011 local SHRM Conference, “It’s a New Season”, that we invited her to continue her contribution on the 2012 board.  Teresa has already organized a fantastic line-up of training topics and networking activities for the year based on comments from the 2011 membership survey.  I am also excited to announce a new location for our monthly luncheons- the Visalia Holiday Inn.  The Holiday Inn has been a great supporter of SHRM of Tulare/Kings County, and we look forward to utilizing their beautiful property in 2012!
